Artwork created by the client becomes a tangible means of discovering information about the self that may have previously been unclear or even repressed.
Together, the Art Therapist and client work through the issues that surface during Art Therapy session and follow-up.
The client is encouraged to discover these issues for him or her self, raise questions, and figure out the possible solutions to these issues through the Creative Process.

The purpose of Art Therapy work is to collaborate with all populations including mental health patients, many of whom have no special artistic skills because those skills are not necessary for Art Therapy.
Their artwork provides outlets for suppressed feelings, channels energy and emotional stress into constructive means of expression and communication. The Art Therapist ensures safety of the client and confidentiality of records and treatment plans.
