Community Support Staff
Mary McCartney, BS, Community Support Specialist
Mary serves as a Community Support Specialist in the Augusta, Georgia community and has worked with The Bindu Institute since December of 2021. She received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Fayetteville State University and is currently enrolled at the University of Louisville to gain a master's degree in Social Work.
She previously worked with communities in North Carolina as a Case Manager in the long-term disaster recovery process following Hurricane Matthew and Florence. Alongside her case management role, she also volunteered with the Guardian Ad Litem of North Carolina as a child advocate in court for children who were abused and neglected.
Through her prior work experience, she has developed a skill of resourcefulness, which is very helpful when finding ways to engage the warrior and providing them with new experiences to increase their independence. She feels that effective communication allows her to better understand the warriors needs and help them establish a road map to meeting their assigned goals.
She is currently stationed at Fort Gordon, GA with her husband who is Active Duty Army. She moved there in 2021 after being stationed in North Carolina for 7 years. She grew up in the Midwest but her favorite place to be is in the mountains or on the beach with a good book.
