The Beginning of the Bindu

The Bindu Institute LLC, was founded by Don Harrison, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, in response to a growing need for accessible, holistic psychotherapy that utilizes Complementary Therapies to promote healing within the local community in 2014. Don envisioned a supportive environment where therapists and practitioners could gather together to provide these therapies to the greater community while educating and advocating for living a meaningful life. His practice was guided by a mindfulness-based approach to mental health and well-being to treating the whole person, mind, body, and spirit.

In 2015, Don Harrison and Trinity Ellis began working with wounded veterans, partnered with case management agencies, to provide Community Support Specialist and Art Therapy services.  We have since expanded from our home state of Florida to also in Georgia, Texas, and Washington.

It is with a heavy heart to announce that Don passed away in August of 2020 due to pancreatic cancer.  He worked with clients with mood disorders, anxiety disorders including PTSD, addictions, and personal growth issues. Don was a Past President of the Board of Directors for NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Emerald Coast.  He built something extraordinary at The Bindu Institute.  Heather Cosimo, a former counselor at The Bindu Institute, said what all of the staff at our office felt when speaking at his Celebration of Life:  "He created a place that serves others without compromising the people he serves and works with and honoring everyone that walked through the doors.  In doing so, he reached and impacted countless children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families.  His vision changed Navarre and he has made the world a much better place because of it.  His impact is far reaching from the counselors he supervised or the clients he provided services to.  This will continue to have a ripple effect and he leaves a legacy with his loving family, along with every single counselor he has trained, taught, worked with, and been around."

All of the Bindu staff are eternally grateful for everything that he created, and he will be tremendously missed.  It is our honor to continue what he started and to serve the people of Navarre and beyond.
